Good questions

No daft questions, only the ones you’ve been carrying.

This page covers what the work actually is, who it’s for, how to choose where to start, and everything else you’d want to know before you pick up the phone.

What is The Aliveness Method?

The Aliveness Method is the body of work that sits behind everything Charlie and Ash do. It starts with capacity, not strategy: the emotional, somatic and identity work comes first, creating internal room, and the external strategies follow, building genuine efficiency rather than just adding more to an already full plate. It is a way of living, not a programme to complete. You do not graduate out of it; you build from it.

Who is this for?

The work is for women aged roughly 32 to 48 who are externally successful but quietly running on empty. You have built a career, a family, a life that looks right from the outside. The issue is what it costs you. You are not looking for someone to add more to your plate; you are looking for the capacity to hold what actually matters. Both Charlie and Ash work primarily with women in New Zealand and Australia.

Who is this not for?

If you want someone to hand you the answer, or a tidy set of steps to follow, this is not the place. The work is yours to do; Charlie and Ash are in your corner, not doing it for you. This is also not the right fit for someone in acute mental-health crisis: if that is where you are right now, please reach out to your GP or a registered therapist first.

Is this coaching or therapy?

It is coaching. Charlie and Ash are not therapists, psychologists, or registered mental-health practitioners, and the work is not a clinical or medical service. It is designed for capable women who want to build capacity, clarity and a life that fits, not for the treatment of mental-health conditions. If you are working with a therapist already, coaching can complement that work well. If you are in a mental-health crisis, your first call should be to a clinician.

Is this about perimenopause and hormones?

Not directly. You might well recognise the hormonal disruption that comes with this stage of life: the sleep problems, the shifts in mood and energy, the sense that your body is not quite behaving the way it used to. The work acknowledges all of that as part of the picture. But Charlie and Ash are not clinicians and will not diagnose or treat hormonal conditions. If you suspect you need medical support for perimenopause, see your GP alongside doing this work. What the coaching addresses is the emotional and identity layer underneath: who you are in this chapter, what you want, and how to build the capacity to live it.

What is the free quiz?

The quiz is a five-minute, eight-question capacity check. It tells you where your energy is most likely leaking, shows you a rough sense of your current capacity, and suggests one small brave choice you could make this week. You do not need to hand over your email to see your result. If you want the results sent to you along with the free Success without Sacrifice handbook, you can add your email at the end, but there is no pressure. It is a genuine first step, not a sales funnel in disguise.

What are the different ways to work with Charlie and Ash?

There are four entry points. The quiz is free and takes five minutes. Evolve is the six-month guided group programme, co-led by both Charlie and Ash, with live calls, breathwork, a resource library and a community of women doing the work alongside you. The one-to-one container is private coaching with either Charlie or Ash, built around your life and what you are moving through, with no fixed length. And the in-person experiences are occasional days and events held in New Zealand: breathwork events, day retreats, and co-lab offerings. You can also listen in on the podcast, Chats with Charlie and Ash, as a low-commitment way to get a feel for the work before you commit to anything.

How is Evolve different from the one-to-one container?

Evolve is a shared container. You move through four phases over six months alongside other women, with three live calls a month, embodiment practices, bi-monthly breathwork, and a community that holds you between calls. The one-to-one is just you and either Charlie or Ash: private, personalised to your specific patterns and decisions, and built around your timeline rather than a cohort’s. Both are doing the same work; the question is whether you want to do it in community or with the full attention of one coach on your life specifically.

How do I decide between working with Charlie and working with Ash?

The short answer: read their pages, listen to the podcast, and notice who you feel pulled toward. Charlie’s work is grounded in leadership, mindset and the rebuild that comes from giving everything to the role and leaving yourself off the list. Ash’s work centres on identity, truth and becoming: the question of who you actually are underneath the life you have built. In practice, both draw on deep lived experience and a broad toolkit. If you are unsure, say so when you reach out; they will point you in the right direction.

Do you work with women in Australia?

Yes. Both the one-to-one and Evolve run online, so they are open to women anywhere in New Zealand and Australia. The in-person days and experiences take place occasionally in New Zealand; keep an eye on the events page for upcoming dates and locations.

How much does it cost?

Pricing is discussed on a call, not published on the site. The quiz is free. If you want to explore Evolve or a one-to-one container, the right next step is to reach out and start the conversation. The investment is meaningful, because the work is, and that conversation is where you will get a clear picture of what is involved and whether it is the right fit.

I have tried coaching before and it did not stick. Why would this be different?

That is probably the most honest question on this page, and it deserves an honest answer. A lot of coaching is strategy-heavy: it gives you more to do and more to manage. If you have come away from a coaching engagement with a full notebook and a quiet sense that none of it quite landed, that is not a failure of discipline on your part. The Aliveness Method starts at the other end, building the internal capacity that makes external strategy actually work. If you have tried more structure and it did not stick, trying less of it, and more of the inner work, is not the same thing.

How do I get started?

The quiz is the easiest first move: five minutes, no commitment, a clear read on where you are right now. From there, the website has a contact page where you can reach out directly about Evolve, a one-to-one container, or just to ask a question. There is no hard sell; the first conversation is genuinely just a conversation.

What is the Success without Sacrifice handbook?

It is a free resource that Charlie and Ash have put together for women at the beginning of this work. You unlock it by entering your email after you have completed the quiz; it is sent to you straight away, and the download is available immediately too. It covers the core ideas behind capacity-first living and gives you somewhere to start before you have committed to anything.

What happens on a one-to-one call before I sign up for anything?

It is a conversation, not a pitch. You will talk with Charlie or Ash about where you are, what you are carrying, and what you want to be different. They will tell you honestly whether they think the work is the right fit and which container makes the most sense for your situation. Nothing is signed or paid for in that call. It exists so both sides can work out whether this is the right thing, and you leave with more clarity than you arrived with, regardless of what you decide.
